Hardware selection is something you would not normally think about in first place. In the world of bespoke luxury however premium hardware makes the difference. Material selection determines whether your belt buckle or your bag D-rings will mature and evolve patina or just get used and peel the coating. With many leather pieces metal hardware itself can cost more than all other materials used in the leather piece crafting.

Our solid metal hardware is a crown jewel of our products and we take big pride in it.

All our belt buckles, D-rings, O-rings, rectangle rings, snap buttons and rivets are either made of solid brass for gold option or stainless steel for silver option. And not only that. We test every piece of hardware before we use it, cut it in half and actually check if it really is solid metal.

Solid Brass or Solid Stainless Steel

Solid Brass is our first material choice with whatever we do. In our opinion brass is the best material ever to use with leather goods. It is durable, gold in color, evolves patina with time and use, and has antibacterial properties, just like our vegetable-tanned leather.

Solid Stainless Steel is our second choice for silver colored hardware. Insanely durable, very hard, and with years of use it will always look exactly as the day one.

We never use and zinc-alloy hardware. Mass produced goods almost always feature zinc alloy hardware because it is cheap and available in many electroplated colors. The shady side is, that electroplating sheds off or peels with use and what ends up on your hands is usually not very environmentally friendly option.

With solid metal hardware from us this is not a concern and we guarantee quality and properties of every single hardware used with our leather pieces.

Zippers by YKK

When it comes to zipper choice, premium brands usually narrow their selection to zippers made by YKK, Riri or Lampo. It is like choosing between Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Ferrari.

We fully rely on japanese made YKK EXCELLA® zippers. Solid brass teeth and slider precision guarantee for a smooth opening and longevity. Their construction is so perfect, that YKK brand almost became synonymous for the zipper itself. Each zipper tooth is polished individually. The EXCELLA® zipper is the highest-grade metal zipper available on the market with carefully polished elements, providing a luxurious touch for leather pieces.

To give you rough idea about how premium YKK EXCELLA® zippers are, the material cost of zipper used for our Duffle Bag is almost 70 EUR just for the zipper itself.
